Hi!

Not sure what's up with your iCal but I figure you've got one of the various corrupted iCal issues that people suffer, or iCal is misbehaving in some other way. Either way, this is the method that works for most people trying to reset iCal.

Firstly, make sure you've backed up your calendars. You can do this by exporting each one from the File menu. Do this before you undertake any further steps as you need to delete calendars and settings next.

Once you've saved your calendars somewhere safe, you need to delete all the cached info for iCal. To do this, you also need to display your Library directory, which is hidden by default in Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion). In earlier editions of OS X, just open your home directory in Finder, then open 'Library'. Lion users will need to 'unhide' Library first. This is really simple: open a Terminal window from Utilities and enter the command: chflags nohidden ~/Library/

It's safe to display your Library folder, but it's not recommended that you poke around in it unless you're after something specific, like your iCal files. If you want to hide Library again after you've fixed iCal, simply open Terminal again and enter this command:

chflags hidden ~/Library

Once in Library, you should open the Calendars directory and delete the Calendar Cache file. If there are two or more, delete all of them.

Then open Library > Preferences and look for the two iCal .plist files (com.apple.iCal.plist and com.apple.ical.helper.plist). Try deleting both of these files and you should find that iCal is working again. Be careful not to touch other files in Library - you could make some programs stop working.

Hope that solves it for you!!
