I'm having a hard time using GIMP, because the interface is not really self-explaining. I know its a really powerful tool, but it's definitely annoying to use too. Are there any alternatives which are more user friendly?

I have edited quite a few images. Then when I save them in the folder I want to as jpeg, I cannot find them when I need to use them? What on earth am I doing wrong

Does Gimp allow you to save a file in an .ico format? I would like to create icon files from scratch, as well as open jpeg, png, and other image files and save them as .ico files. Thanks
